Visas
Information for employers
If you would like to hire an international professional, the potential employee will need to obtain a relevant visa, or you will need to obtain one on their behalf.
Temporary Business (Long Stay) - Standard Business Sponsorship (Subclass 457)
The 457 visa allows you to sponsor a skilled, overseas worker to work for your organisation in Australia on a temporary basis. This visa will allow the worker to stay in Australia, with working rights, for a pre-determined time period of one day to four years. The 457 visa also allows individuals to bring any eligible secondary applicants, such as family members, with them.
How do you apply for a visa?
Navitas Workforce Solutions is one of Australia’s few recruitment agencies able to obtain working visas for international professionals. We have been appointed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) which means we can assist you through every step of the visa application.
Here’s how the process works:
- We prepare the application for you to be a sponsor to recruit an overseas professional.
- We provide details of the employee that you want to recruit and the role they will be filling.
- We recruit the overseas worker to fill the position.
- You act as a sponsor for your employee.
- You co-operate with DIAC’s monitoring requirements and meet your obligations as part of the immigration program.
As a sponsor, there are certain conditions you must meet prior to applying for a 457 visa:
- Sponsors must meet benchmarks relating to the training of Australian citizens and permanent residents.
- Sponsors must have a strong record of, or a demonstrated commitment to, employing local labour and non-discriminatory employment practices.
- There must be nothing adverse known about a sponsor’s organisation or associated individuals.
